Frontier High School Ranked poorly in WNY

30 05 2007

Yesterday Western New York’s Business First Magazine ranked the top 25 High Schools in Western New York. Frontier High School and Hamburg High School were no where to be found. I really can’t comment on Hamburg High School since I know very little about that district. However the Frontier High School has been rated poorly for some years now.

Frontier School District has a lot of problems recently with poor school rankings, drugs in school, and unruly students that give the school district problems. Frontier High School is famously known throughout WNY as “Heroin High”, meaning how easy it has been to purchase heroin on school grounds. This very issue prompted the district and the Town of Hamburg to hire a full time police resource officer to stem the sale of drugs in the high school. Read the rest of this entry »

Frontier School District takes a nose dive in school rankings!

29 05 2007

Frontier School District took a nose dive in this years school rankings as reported by Business First Magazine. I feel vindicated after the comments I made were rebuffed by Mr. Commerford and Mr. Figiel of the school board who toted how great a job they have done over the last few years.

Frontier was ranked 10th overall last year and I have said publicly that the District was over rated by Business First. This year the District was ranked at 14th. Never mind that we pay enough money per child to send every student in the district to the number 1 private school in WNY. Never mind that the District has raised your taxes more than 60% over the last 10 years and never mind that the student enrollment is at a 10 year low. Read the rest of this entry »

Stand and face the issue or stick your head in the sand. What’s it going to be?

29 05 2007

I wrote this article last week but then it was deleted by Tony Fracasso of SpeakupWNY before it was on the site an hour. I am going to try and rewrite it as best I can but if you happened to read the other article before the site was taken down then I apologize for any differences in it.

The issue here is how does Homosexuality influence government and what are we as a society going to do about it. You see the premise for this article is on the fact that the Hamburg Democratic Party has hired Larry Adamczyk as their campaign manager for all the town positions up for election this year. It is no secret that Larry is a homosexual who is infected with HIV/AIDS. I am not “outing” Larry since his homosexuality has been written about numerous times in the past and if you would like you can go to the www.buffalonews.com and search Larry’s name in the archive search. Comments from Kevin Smardz

29 05 2007

Kevin Smardz for Hamburg Councilman

I am pleased to announce my candidacy for Hamburg Councilman. On April 24, 2007 the Town of Hamburg Republican Committee unanimously endorsed me as a candidate for Hamburg Councilman. Also, on May 24, the Hamburg Conservative Committee endorsed me as one of their candidates with overwhelming majority vote.

I have chosen to live in Hamburg, work in Hamburg, and with my wife, raise my family in Hamburg. I believe that there is a tremendous future for our town, if we have fresh, new, innovative leadership. For more than a decade, we have seen an unbalanced town board continually raise taxes while draining town reserve funds. The board’s unfriendly practices toward business in Hamburg have been evident on many occasions.

This unbalanced town board continues to grow the size of government at the cost of the taxpayers. The hard-working families of Hamburg can no longer fund the unnecessary and wasteful spending of this town board. My experience working in the private sector with small businesses, corporations, and currently a non-profit corporation, has given me the leadership and management skills needed to prosper Hamburg for future generations. I know first hand the responsibility of working within a budget to accomplish a project. Read the rest of this entry »

Wal*Mart opponents start website for their cause.

27 05 2007

Over the last 2 -3 months a community activist group who named themselves “Hamburg First” has decided to take the Town of Hamburg N.Y. to court to stop the town from allowing Wal*Mart to build a new super-center on Southwestern Blvd. It is important to say that this web site was built with the name “Hamburg First” before the group ever was created and we are not affiliated with each other.

I feel a little guilty holding the name “Hamburg First” when an actual activist group organizes to tackle big issues like this, but as the old saying goes, “first come first serve”. The issue about stopping Wal*Mart is a hot bed issue in many towns. Most argue that the store chain is driving out small businesses and is stopping competition in the area. The issue here isn’t that at all, what it is about is that the community next to the proposed site is mainly the richest of Hamburg residents and they don’t want a Wal*Mart in their neighborhood. Not So Fast!

26 05 2007

“Not so Fast” are the words that Jim Sorrentino is muttering to himself these days. You see on Thursday night the Hamburg Conservative Party Committee Members met to decide on the town endorsements this year. Their were 4 candidates for town board to choose from.

The only Conservative Party Candidate was Tom Best, a former Hamburg Police Officer and Blasdell Village Chief of Police. The others were Democrats “Dicky” Smith and “Vinny” Gugliuzza. The Republicans are fielding Town Committee Member Kevin Smardz. Read the rest of this entry »

www.Hamburgfirst.info

26 05 2007

I just purchased the domain name www.Hamburgfirst.info to make it easier for those of you out there to get to this site. I would have purchase the domain .org but Tony Fracasso from SUWNY bought it yesterday for no other reason than to harass me. He also purchased the .net domain name.

So in 24 hours when you type in www.hamburgfirst.info you will be redirected directly to this site. I look forward to continuing to keep you informed on the politics of Hamburg N.Y.

Letter to the Editor of the Hamburg Sun

25 05 2007

Censorship is still alive in Western New York

Many of you out there know me as the local voice of the Independence Party. My name is Ford Beckwith and I am a frequent contributor to the Hamburg Sun. As many of you have figured out by now I am a strong fiscal conservative in politics and have very conservative views on such things as family values and the Constitution of the United States.
