Censorship is still alive in Western New York
Many of you out there know me as the local voice of the Independence Party. My name is Ford Beckwith and I am a frequent contributor to the Hamburg Sun. As many of you have figured out by now I am a strong fiscal conservative in politics and have very conservative views on such things as family values and the Constitution of the United States.
Today I’m writing this letter to the editor to inform the readers of the Hamburg Sun about censorship that has crept back into our community. As many of you knew I have been the owner and editor of the web site Hamburg First. I was using the web server speakupwny.com because it was convenient to do so.
Over this past week I wrote a couple controversial articles about family values and the conflict it has with alternative lifestyles. I went as far as to show a legitimate scenario of how people in a position of political power could influence alternative lifestyle laws and proceeded to discuss the issue of same sex marriages.
This topic was obviously not to the liking of the owner of speakupwny, Tony Fracasso, and he removed Hamburg First from the web without notice or warning. He also took control over all the articles I had in my archive and I am currently seeking legal action to regain my property.
I have started Hamburg First on a new web server and the new temporary address is www.hamburgfirst.wordpress.com. This web site is dedicated to the issues of politics in our town and I strive to create an open discussion among anyone willing to talk civilly about the issues I present. I also from time to time stray from politics to discuss various activities going on in our town. I will be purchasing the domain name for Hamburg First soon, so look for the site at www.hamburgfirst.info.
My web site Hamburg First was started before the community action group with the same name and we are not affiliated with each other. I am however open to their participation and hope they join us in a discussion.
In closing I would like to apologize to those fans of my site for the inconvenience of the move from one server to another. For those of you unfamiliar with this web site please sign in and join our discussion. It is the best and easiest way to get your opinion out to the public and town board.
