Kevin Smardz for Hamburg Councilman
I am pleased to announce my candidacy for Hamburg Councilman. On April 24, 2007 the Town of Hamburg Republican Committee unanimously endorsed me as a candidate for Hamburg Councilman. Also, on May 24, the Hamburg Conservative Committee endorsed me as one of their candidates with overwhelming majority vote.
I have chosen to live in Hamburg, work in Hamburg, and with my wife, raise my family in Hamburg. I believe that there is a tremendous future for our town, if we have fresh, new, innovative leadership. For more than a decade, we have seen an unbalanced town board continually raise taxes while draining town reserve funds. The board’s unfriendly practices toward business in Hamburg have been evident on many occasions.
This unbalanced town board continues to grow the size of government at the cost of the taxpayers. The hard-working families of Hamburg can no longer fund the unnecessary and wasteful spending of this town board. My experience working in the private sector with small businesses, corporations, and currently a non-profit corporation, has given me the leadership and management skills needed to prosper Hamburg for future generations. I know first hand the responsibility of working within a budget to accomplish a project.
Having worked in the media industry for more than a decade, I have had the opportunity to successfully work with a variety companies including Notre Dame High School, Basil Automotive Group, WKSE radio, the Town of Evans Chamber of Commerce, and St. Bonaventure University.
Having been raised in a law enforcement home, I know that there is a great responsibility to offer the best public safety to Hamburg residents. I believe it is the job of government to provide all of our public safety services with appropriate funding. I believe that in post 9/11 era, our residents expect and deserve the best public safety. Under my leadership, that is exactly what they will receive.
For the past year and half, it has been an honor for me to serve on the Hamburg Youth Board. Our youth is the future of Hamburg and Western New York. Being a father of two sons, I know first-hand the responsibility of being a leader in their lives, and as councilman, I will build a future for our youth to become leaders in Hamburg and Western New York.
Hamburg has great potential. I believe that our government needs to work for the taxpayers, and as councilman, I will work hard to accomplish this. I will make sure that every tax dollar spent at town hall is spent wisely. As Councilman, I will work as a public servant to bring good, common-sense government back to Hamburg. Government belongs to the people, and I will give Hamburg back to its residents.
