I wrote this article last week but then it was deleted by Tony Fracasso of SpeakupWNY before it was on the site an hour. I am going to try and rewrite it as best I can but if you happened to read the other article before the site was taken down then I apologize for any differences in it.
The issue here is how does Homosexuality influence government and what are we as a society going to do about it. You see the premise for this article is on the fact that the Hamburg Democratic Party has hired Larry Adamczyk as their campaign manager for all the town positions up for election this year. It is no secret that Larry is a homosexual who is infected with HIV/AIDS. I am not “outing” Larry since his homosexuality has been written about numerous times in the past and if you would like you can go to the www.buffalonews.com and search Larry’s name in the archive search.
What you will eventually find are lots of articles about Larry and his sexuality and his disease. Larry has been considered a political hatchet man for years. Meaning he is usually brought into a campaign to discredit and humiliate the other guy. He has been very effective in the past in doing so and it is considered his forte.
My issue isn’t necessarily with Larry but with the issue of same sex marriages and I think Larry and people like him represent what is wrong with our government. You see we as a society have become so liberal that we actually say it’s OK to be gay. I find that ironic since our nation was formed on a conservative fundamentalism that actually burned homosexuals at the stake. We then moved toward hanging them until we became tolerant of the issue. But have we come so far from that conservatism that we are willing to allow homosexuals to get married in our own town hall? Well if people like Larry have their way then that is exactly what is going to happen. Let me explain:
Larry, being so politically powerful, is in the position to help many judges get elected. These judges are obviously very liberal and unopposed to his lifestyle if they are willing to accept his help. With that in mind I don’t think this scenario is out of reach.
Who is to say that Larry doesn’t get a couple judges elected to the bench who are willing to approve same sex marriages. These judges would undoubtedly have to rise through the Judicial ranks, but it isn’t unreasonable to assume that one or two may just do that and some day be appointed to the Federal Bench or even the U.S. Supreme Court. So lets just say for the sake of argument that Justice “X” gets there.
Now Justice “X” has the responsibility of deciding whether or not to allow same sex marriages. He can’t just say no because he took the help of a guy who wants this to happen. The Justice would look awfully bad if he accepted the help of the gay community and then said no to their biggest issue ever. So all of a sudden because Larry Adamczyk helped a Judge get elected, we just might be facing same sex marriages in N.Y. some day.
Now, Larry also helped Town Justices get elected. So when the Supreme Court allows these same sex marriages we now have a Town Justice who is willing to perform the job. These kinds of issues and legislation are passed by influence. This is called lobbying. The gay community has a lobby just like most groups but they have the attention of the nation right now.
So without addressing this issue we could face this scenario very soon in Hamburg. Are you willing to allow your town government to start same sex marriages? Do you think it’s right for that to happen in your town? Are you willing to stand up against this kind of social liberalism?
All these are good questions thrust upon you by the hiring of Larry Adamczyk by Jim Sorrentino. You see, I can’t blame Larry for being Larry. I can’t and won’t speculate as to what happened in his upbringing that helped him decide to be gay. But what I can do is inform you, the public, about how the Hamburg Democratic Town Chairman, Jim Sorrentino, decided to bring Larry into our town and ultimately bring these kinds of issues to the forefront.
Am I a homophobe? No! Am I a gay basher? No, I don’t think I am. But what I am is willing to discuss the hot bed issues that many would just stick their head in the sand and ignore. So the question now becomes , “are you willing to stand and face the issue, or will you stick your head in the sand”?
I can’t imagine why anyone would be opposed to gay marriage. If you’re not gay, it doesn’t affect you in an even infinitesimal way.
And people don’t “decide” to be gay. Why would someone “decide” to be subjected to name-calling, ignorance, hatred, discrimination, or violence? People who are gay are born that way – it’s not a disease.
Wow.
A debate about council seats, a choice of who are best qualified to manage a municipal budget, apportion funds to hire employees, provide local services, etc. and you inject THIS into the debate???
You can like Larry or you can hate Larry; he is no stranger to controversy and tough as nails politics. But no one who is into the political realm deserves to have this sort of nasty hate spewing piece written about them just because they chose to be a part of the political process.
Larry made some mistakes and poor personal choices in life; it’s called being a human being and we are all imperfect. He has managed some scary health issues and has displayed courage in doing so. He has picked a career in doing what he does best – public service and contributing to the elections process. That too is an imperfect industry and brings out the worst in people sometimes. It also brings out the best.
I have no rooting interest in Hamburg’s elections whatsoever, but I would hope your candidates who you are backing might take a ride 10 miles to the west to the City of Fort Erie… Yes Ford, same sex couples are (*horrors*) getting marriage licenses and tying the knot at their City Hall. It is the law of land in Canada. And guess what? The ground hasn’t opened up and swallowed the country whole; children aren’t walking around traumatized; there is no rioting in the streets. Talk to most Canadians and they will greet the topic of gay marriage with a shrug and a big yawn.
Thanks for reading my post Ford… I’ll let you get back to reading your Bible now. Skip the part about Jesus promoting love and tolerance and loving thy neighbor. Go straight to Leviticus.. that one damn sentence that frames the entire spectrum of what is is to be a Christian in the Bush Era.
