Dirty politics at its worst

30 06 2007

Recently I sent the Independence Party Committee Members a letter asking them to attend a meeting this past Thursday night. I advised them that there was some serious issues about this years town board race that needed their attention and the Town Supervisor would attend to help explain some of the issues. I also had Tom Best and Kevin Smardz willing to show up and speak to the committee.

During the week I spoke to about 50 of the committee members and had a fairly good response. About 35 people originally said they would be there and the rest said they didn’t know if they could make it because of previous plans.

When the evening came only about 8 people showed up. Three cars pulled in the parking lot and seen a particular person they had strong issue with and they pulled out immediately. It looked as if they had their wives with them so that is six people who left the meeting before they ever came in.

An hour or so before the meeting I was inundated with calls from people telling me they weren’t coming and I had a couple calls that asked if the meeting was still on because they had received a phone call from a woman who told them the meeting was cancelled.

I was a little pissed that the people who told me that they would be there didn’t show up so I called most of them to ask why they weren’t there. I was told by almost all of them that they received a phone call the day of the meeting from a woman telling them the meeting was cancelled.

The reason I am bringing this up is to let the people of Hamburg know that I am working hard to free the Independence Party and I have a lot of support in the party. It takes the opposition these kind of tactics to try and dissuade me from continuing my efforts.

Dennis Koziol showed up to the meeting and I am grateful for his attendance. He spoke to those of us who remained and made it clear that if he becomes chairmanĀ he will make sure that Hamburg is constituted. Thanks Dennis.

When a certain woman showed up at the meeting Tom Best immediately left. He has strong objections with this person and it would have turned nasty if he stayed. Ultimately several members who were there told this woman to shut her yap or leave after she did nothing but bad mouth me for several minutes. I had Tom call the Supervisor and asked him and Kevin not to come because of the woman who was disrupting everyone there.

Had the phone call calling off the meeting never taken place I’m sure we would have had 30 -40 people at the meeting. As it stands now I will be in personal contact with these people and talking to them to get their point of view for this years town board race. I will go to their house and sit privately with them if need be. If you read anything other than what I’m telling you here, it is an absolute lie. The Hamburg IP is strong and organized against the same old dirty tactics of the people who felt it necessary to try and stop this meeting.
