I’m really not trying to be a film critic here. I know this will be the second article about a film in so many weeks but I just love the Harry Potter Series. I must admit that when Harry Potter films come out I feel like a kid again and can’t wait to see it. My kids love the series just as much as I do and this is something the whole family can enjoy.
I’m sure I don’t need to explain to you who Harry Potter is but in this film he gets far deeper into the dark side of wizardry. He takes the helm as teacher of the “defence against the dark arts” to any student who wishes to learn. His private club of students call themselves “Dumbledore’s Army” and this leads to the Professors removal as headmaster of the school. There are lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing what’s next and the special effects make the movie as always. I don’t want to spoil it for you so I will not say to much about it.
Once again the series turns into a scrap between good and evil but it begins to blur the line between the two. Questions are asked that are reminiscent of today’s real life issues. For instance, is it OK to kill someone who just killed your best friend or family member. Revenge plays a huge roll in this movie and the theme of Power corrupting comes into play and I think the series is setting itself up for some sort of power struggle in the end.
The final book of the Harry Potter series comes out July 21st and it’s expected to break all records. No wonder this film series has taken off like it does. I haven’t read any of the books but I just might start after the last movie is made. I believe that if you read the book first then the movie is always a disappointment so I’ll wait for now.
If any of you are waiting to see just one movie this summer with your family then this is it. I hope you all have as much fun watching as I did.
