Tom Best held another fundraiser tonight at the VFW Post 1419 on Lakeview Rd. in Hamburg tonight. More than 300 people showed up at $30 each. The evening was very pleasant and Tom made everyone feel very comfortable. Lots of raffles and prizes to go into the kitty for attending and the 50/50 went for $600 to the winner.
The highlight was Tom pledging to the residents of Hamburg that he “will do all he can, with all he has, to make Hamburg a better place to live.” That drew a lot of applause and Tom is well on his way to a win this November. Kevin Smardz showed up and was honored by Tom. Good luck to the two of them, I’m looking forward to a campaign on the issues.
I attended Tom’s fundraiser. His speech was short but frank. I trust his judgement. I feel confident that Tom Best would be a dedicated Town Board member; not voting for the previous status quo. We need to reduce the tax burden in the Town so that the next generation does not want to leave the area. Bare bones, Conservative government is the direction we should vote for.
The Highway Superintendant’s “speech” over how well the T.O.H. managed the October storm/F.E.M.A. business sounded more like an advertising opportunity for the Hamburg Dems. They are not as Conservative as he makes them sound.
Examples:
The soil and groundwater testing performed at the Nike Base was phony and the results were ametuer at best. The Town’s recreation area was tested to show safe levels/no exposure to the users of the site. We allowed the T.O.H. to waste money and they lied to us about the results. They are deceitful in their efforts to bring the truth to the residents. They collaberated with the Dept. of Health, the Army Corp of Engineers, the D.E.C. and the E.P.A. and the Buffalo News to cover up the dangers in the soil. They turned the truth into fiction at the taxpayers expense.
1)The ‘geddy’ that the Town bonded for the taxpayers involved NO Transportation Enhancement monies which are available
2)The Seaway Trail Visitor Center, which is a complete failure, which is a Transportation Enhancement type project; ditto, no funds requested. People shoul go to the taxpayer boondoggle and witness the visitors log. It is rarely open and has very few visitors.
3) Sewer cameras, which inspect for drainage problems, are costing us way too much money. This board has made no efforts to save the local taxpayers money by requesting the County to supply us with the cameras.
3) Legal services that are ‘farmed out’ to Sorrentino’s lawfirm friends exceed reasonable limits.
4) Foits demolition is a transportation Enhancement project. Ditto #1 and #2.
5) A Town compost for public benefit has never consumated by our illustrious Town Board. A nice amennity that other Towns offer their taxpaying residents.
6) Flex spending medical accounts for Town employees are non existant also. This benefit saves the taxpayers money by lowered administrative costs to the Town & it gives the employee pre-tax benefits: more bang for the buck.
7) A Town Greenway system/Bikepath has not been pursued. Transportation Enhancement funds are also available fot his wonderful Town amennity that other Towns offer their taxpaying residents.
So you see, Mr. Connolly needs free press coverage to do damage control for the ‘tax & spend’ Town Board. That is unless they are spending for themselves !
I’m wondering how it would be possible to engage the Army Corp of Engineers, the DEC, the EPA and the Buffalo News in one large conspiracy. Jim Conolly must be one serious political operator to hush up 2 federal agencies, 2 state agencies, and one media outlet. I’m actually quite impressed! Did he have something to do with the cover up of Roswell too? He may have also been the man on the grassy nole in November of 1963! Watch out for him
