The Sun, Immaculata Academy to host candidates’ forum this Thursday, November 1

Voters invited to event to hear candidates speak about their platforms as we move closer to Election Day^ The Sun, in conjunction with local Participation In Government students from the area, will sponsor a candidates’ forum this Thursday, Nov. 1 at Immaculata Academy in the Town of Hamburg.

The event, scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., will provide residents of Hamburg and the surrounding communities a chance to see, hear and question the candidates running for office Nov. 6

Candidates expected to be invited to the event include:

•Town of Hamburg Councilman — Tom Best Sr., Vince Gugliuzza, Kevin Smardz and Dick Smith

• Erie County Executive — Chris Collins and Jim Keane

• Erie County Clerk — Kathy Hochul and Bill O’Loughlin

• Erie County Legislature 1st District — Daniel Kozub and Vincent Tobia

• Erie County Legislature 12th District — James Liegl and Bob Reynolds

The forum will feature predetermined questions based on feedback provided by local high school Participation In Government students, members of the Hamburg United Council Taxpayers’ Association and the editorial staff of The Sun.

The forum will be held in Immaculata’s recently renovated auditorium. The school is located at 5138 South Park Ave.
