What do you think?

28 11 2007

Recently I’ve been thinking about an issue that has national implications but effected a family right here in WNY. I’m not sure just what to think about the issue and the results it has brought upon this Derby family, so I decided I would put the facts, as I know them, out there and see what your opinions might be.

As you all have figured out since I started this web site, I have become very conservative as I’ve gotten older. I believe in a libertarian political philosophy, mostly, and I agree with much of what Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson tried to do politically 200 years or so ago. If I had my way we would go back to the founding principals of our forefathers and toss out this liberal agenda that our country has gravitated towards since then. Read the rest of this entry »

Supervisor Walters makes sure Hamburg has no tax increase!

23 11 2007

Yep, two years is all it took for Steven Walters to make sure you and I don’t have a tax increase. You all remember don’t you? His campaign promise was 0% tax increase if you elected him and now he fulfilled that promise. He did it with a Democratic majority on the town board so imagine just how much he will drop taxes next year with control of that board.

I’m impressed and you should be to. Thanks Supervisor Walters! You have proven to be an elected official who keeps his word. Read the rest of this entry »

It’s OFFICIAL! KEVIN SMARDZ WINS!

21 11 2007

Well it’s now official. Kevin Smardz beat Dicky Smith by a margin of 353 votes. The final recount was today at the Board of Elections. Supervisor Walters has expressed his pleasure in the outcome and is ready to start a new chapter in the Town of Hamburg.

I stopped downtown at 1pm today to check on the canvass of absentee ballots and I was told by both commissioners that the candidates were pulling 1 for 1 on the ballots. So this isn’t a surprise. In fact it was very expected and everyone wanting reform in this town now has a true voice in that effort.

I’m looking forward to helping out the new administration as much as I can and we all should give thanks on Thanksgiving for the opportunity  our town now has to prosper once again.

True stories continued

15 11 2007

I have lived in Hamburg all my life except for the time I was in the US Navy and a couple years after I got out of the Military. I grew up in this town, went to Frontier High School and even started college in this town. So needless to say I know a lot about how Hamburg has fared over the years. Let me tell you a true story (cont. more)

14 11 2007

Well this time we go back to the Recreation Department. Ah yes, that grand mess of a department. Now we go back about 5-6 years when I was a little league baseball coach with the C.S.R.A. League. I’m very proud of the time I spent coaching LL Baseball and our team was fotunate to win the 3 League Championship one of those years. Read the rest of this entry »

Let me tell you a true story (cont.)

14 11 2007

One evening when my daughter was about 3 or 4 years old she had a febrile seizure. What happens is a child’s temperature rises very quickly from normal to more than 103 degrees. The resulting symptom is a seizure that could lead to many bad things including death. Read the rest of this entry »

Free Cockatiel to good home.

13 11 2007

I have a female cockatiel that I am trying to find a good home for. It comes with the cage, stand and all food and dishes. Everything I have for the bird for free with it. It’s very tame and loves to sit on your hand or shoulder. Doesn’t bite at all. It’s in great health as well. I am just so tired of it and don’t want to clean the mess and cage every week anymore. If your interested e-mail me and I’ll give you my contact info. This is a great bird for kids.

my e-mail is fordbeckwith@adelphia.net

Let me tell you a true story

12 11 2007

I’ve been thinking that perhaps I should share some of my experiences with this town that motivate me to get involved. I’ll start today with the first issue in my long list of run-ins with the Democratic majority in this town. Read the rest of this entry »

Waiting on official election results

10 11 2007

We are all waiting for the BOE to count the absentee ballots and re-canvass the voting machines for our official results. NYS law states that we must wait 10 days from the election before absentee ballots can be counted. This is to allow military voters to get their ballots into their state/local BOE in time. Just some thoughts

8 11 2007

In the limelight of being part of this huge victory for Hamburg reform I have been pondering some of the changes I would make if it was actually I that took a seat at the bench in January. What would I do, how would I proceed, and what proposals would be made? I’ve said quite a few things over the last couple of years and here are some of the ideas I came up with.
