We are all waiting for the BOE to count the absentee ballots and re-canvass the voting machines for our official results. NYS law states that we must wait 10 days from the election before absentee ballots can be counted. This is to allow military voters to get their ballots into their state/local BOE in time.
The reasoning is that should only a few military ballots come in after the other ballots are counted then it could be possible to find out how that military person voted. So for now we wait. Their are few fishy circumstances already creating controversy over this election.
It has come to Hamburg First’s attention that Pat Hoak was left alone with the machine counts as he drove them down to the BOE the morning after the election. This is highly unusual since it’s the state law that when ever ballots are to be handled a member from each of the two major parties must be present. This is to prevent the opportunity for shenanigans with the vote. Some how that rule was violated and Pat Hoak was left alone with these ballots for an unspecified amount of time.
I have also been told stories of mishandling of absentee ballots downtown at the BOE. Their is no way to verify any of those claims but the BOE has committed felonies during elections of the past two years. I was even on TV in 2005 with my complaints but nothing ever happened with that. So it’s safe to say that I don’t trust anyone who works at the BOE to ensure these ballots aren’t tampered with.
Kevin Smardz has a 205 vote lead right now. I’m told their are 488 absentee ballots so for Dick Smith to win this election he would need to win 347 or more of the 488 votes. That is highly unlikely. However we wait patiently. No-one has heard a peep out of the Hamburg Democratic Party yet. They are as quiet as a church mouse right now. I can’t wait for the Town Council Meeting on November 19th. It should be very interesting.
