It’s OFFICIAL! KEVIN SMARDZ WINS!

21 11 2007

Well it’s now official. Kevin Smardz beat Dicky Smith by a margin of 353 votes. The final recount was today at the Board of Elections. Supervisor Walters has expressed his pleasure in the outcome and is ready to start a new chapter in the Town of Hamburg.

I stopped downtown at 1pm today to check on the canvass of absentee ballots and I was told by both commissioners that the candidates were pulling 1 for 1 on the ballots. So this isn’t a surprise. In fact it was very expected and everyone wanting reform in this town now has a true voice in that effort.

I’m looking forward to helping out the new administration as much as I can and we all should give thanks on Thanksgiving for the opportunity  our town now has to prosper once again.

Yes, thank you Hamburg voters for voting wisely.
This will be interesting. Hamburg is now in the hands of a majority that wants to see Hamburg grow with its taxpayers in mind, rather than the tax eaters in mind.
Let’s focus on bringing Hamburg into the spotlight rather than under the spotlight due to the previous board’s attitudes. Lets see more and more citizens return to board meetings, participating in local government; not to be made fools of, made to feel stupid or just plain ignored.
