Hamburg Re-org just days away!

4 01 2008

The Town of Hamburg will officially be reorganised Monday night as Tom Best and Kevin Smardz officially take their oath of office. Tom unofficially took his a week ago at Romanello’s South in front of family and friends that were in town for the holidays. He and Kevin will officially take the oath Monday evening just before the Town Council meeting.

I’m told we can expect a change in several areas. The Planning Board will have a new member and a new Chairman. I know who it is but I’m sworn to secrecy until after the reorg. Their will be additions and subtractions to many Town advisory committees as well. I’m told that the recreation department can expect an in-depth look into its leadership and operation.

I suggest if you’re interested in the future of this town that you attend Monday’s meeting. It will be very informative with more than 35 items on the agenda as of today. See you all there.

Ford is it true they will be putting Peter Reska on the planning board. I mean how can they? His house is a complete disaster.

What does his house have to do with his ability to be on an advisory board?

The planning board is suppposed to approve projects and protray an image of being positive for the town of Hamburg. His house is one step above trash. It is difficult to walk near his home because of the three dogs. There is dog crap everywhere. He can’t even keep his own home neat let be tough on these developers.

Being tough on developers keeps Hamburg back in the economic dark ages of the Pat Hoak days. Bigger and better days are ahead for our Town. The voters wanted change and they are going to get it. No Anonymous sticks in the mud are going to stop the forward progress. Grow up and get a job in the private sector. Republicans are going to cut the size of government and lower taxes; attracting new blood to our Town.

First of all, I only have 2 dogs, not 3.

If you consider a house in the process of a complete rebuild “one step above trash”, then I guess, for once, someone who blogs anonymously might have a point.

We have replaced all of the windows, all of the doors, all of the fencing which we control, most of the facia boards as well as most of the soffets and gutters as well as put in a new roof. The siding is being replaced with each cedar shingle being hand sanded, hand stained and applied. About 3/4 of the house is done with the rest to be completed when the weather breaks. The inside is being restored to its original 1904 appearance at the same time.

Since we are doing the work ourselves it is taking longer than if we hired someone but, unlike anonymous writers, we don’t live in big houses on the lake front & can’t afford to hire contractors for most of the work.

Quality work takes time & effort on the part of the people doing it. Since I have a full time job which requires me to actually show up, I can only do the work part time.

And anonymous, If you don’t like the pace of the renovations, feel free to come by & we’ll teach you the basics. Maybe you’ll do a real days work for once.
