Sorry I haven’t been posting lately. I took a few days off to do some work around the house and get started on this years political season. A lot is happening and my next few posts will outline them. As many of you noticed I didn’t run anyone for Frontier School Board. I had several people lined up to do it but my back went out and I was swamped by some personal issues at the same time.
I apologize to Mr. Kelley and Mr. Reese, both of whom volunteered to run but I didn’t coordinate the petition drive as I needed to. Because of that the petitions didn’t get finished in time. It’s not their fault, it’s mine. I assure you all we will be back fighting next year for some real representation on that School board. Their were five petition packets handed out beside the one I took so I didn’t think it was as pressing an issue as it turned out to be.
Jeremy Rosen was elected and I know the guy a little bit from politics. He has been a Democratic puppet forever and I believe he has been a clerk at the Erie County Legislature for the last few years. This is not the guy who will stand against tax increases. Personally he is a nice guy and easy to get along with. He’s just not the guy to put his foot down and say no to tax increases.
I also attended a Hamburg Recreational Advisory Board meeting a week or so ago. Several residents showed up and the main topic was about the town skate board park. These residents want it moved into the Village of Hamburg and they want it bigger and better. The board told them basically to talk with the Village politicians to get that stuff but these people are very hesitant because they feel they are being harassed by the Village Police and they want some relief by the town in regards to the skate board park.
I’m willing to work to help resolve this issue but the bottom line is this facility is not getting moved unless it’s dismantled for good. As always I feel the residents should find a way to entertain their own kids and quit looking to government to do it for them. As long as the Recreation Department continues to exist and I’m on the advisory board, I will do what I can to help, but the town as a whole must be considered over the needs of a few. Therefore my vote is to keep the facility next to town hall and the majority of the board agreed with that sentiment.
Supervisor Steven Walters was pleased to announce that he and the Town Council have paid off several bonds a few years in advance saving us all a few hundred thousand dollars in interest fees. He is also looking at ways to pay off some other bonds to get spending cut down further and end up with another tax decrease in upcoming years. Great job Supervisor Walters, Kevin Smardz and Tom Best! When was the last time you had the Dems pay off bonds and not create new ones to keep taxes going up? Walters, Best and Smardz are definitely doing what we pay them to do.
Finally I have had unconfirmed reports that the Big Tree Fire Department is trying to bring convicted criminals into their district to help clear the property for their new fire hall. I’m told these are actual incarcerated criminals and not community service people. I’m told that it would be kind of like a chain gang with armed correctional officers supervising the work. As I said this is unconfirmed and I hope it’s a false report. I know I don’t want these people near my home watching as me and my neighbors come and go, and I’m sure you don’t want them near your house. I think it’s more likely that these are community service workers and I have no problem with that.
I do know that BTVFD is getting special treatment by the Hamburg Highway Superintendent Jim Connolly and the BTVFD is being allowed to use town equipment to clear this land. You and I aren’t allowed to ever use this equipment. We must go rent it from a third party. Not the BTVFD though, they get to spend more of your tax dollars that they aren’t even entitled to. If you have had enough then help me defeat Connolly next year in his re-election campaign.
There is a lot more to come, stay tuned and once again I’m sorry for the few days off.
Next to the fire boat building in the town park the local fire chief used the same criminals to cut down trees that have been holding up the upper parking lot for more than 50 years. Take a close look at the location, the root structure retained the dirt that supports the parking lot. Why would they remove the trees? who gave them permission? Would you take your family to a local park to subject them to the felons working there? Give up Ford, they do whatever they wish and the Town Fathers give them their blessing.
FYI, the home owners across the street from the beach love the new view.
I am sure they just went ahead and cut down the trees with the convicted fellons with out asking for permission.
Look out guys the chain gang is coming to a neighborhood near you.
Are these the same criminals that paint some of the buildings by the little league fields in the summer? They’re free workers, you don’t like free? You want to spend more taxpayer money?
Yes, god forbid they do something that save taxpayers money.
I don’t see Ford patting that fire chief on the back for having the renovations done at the fire boat building for free!
Ford, seeing as you are such good friends with the town board members, why don’t you ask them if they knew about the clearing of the trees and the work on the building by the criminals, then you can report back to us.
I can’t wait to hear this answer!
Why don’t you ask Kevin Smardz, he is the go between the fire companies and the town board, but of course you knew that.
Correct me if I am wrong Ford, but didnt you say a while back that the town was picking up all the brush at this site for free just like the do at your house or mine ??
