Letter to the Editor

 

Dear Dan Meyers,

 

As Editor of the Hamburg Sun News, I would hope that you screen comments like the one that former Town Recreation Director Richard Tripp said about me in his recent letter to the editor. Mr. Tripp referred to me as an appointee who automatically shares the same views as Supervisor Walters and because he claims that I advocate the selling of town parkland, then so does Supervisor Walters.

 

I think this is an overt insult to anyone with a mind of their own. Supervisor Walters has appointed individuals with wide varieties of political philosophies to various boards to gather as many points of view as possible before making any determinations that could effect the growth of this town for years to come. I call that responsible leadership.

 

Let it be further known that I was unanimously appointed to the Town of Hamburg Recreation Advisory Board by all the Town Council Members. As a member of that board I do have strong opinions about the future of the Hamburg Recreation Department as well as many other political opinions. Most, if not all can be read at WWW.HAMBURGFIRST.INFO and readers can respond as they wish to my views.

 

Finally, I wish to add that Mr. Tripp has lived very well off of tax payer dollars and I never heard him speak against a tax increase while he ran the Hamburg Recreation Department. During the time he ran the Recreation Department he increased recreation Department debt, lost revenue, failed to maintain parkland properties properly and laughed all the way to the bank. In fact, I believe I’m correct in saying that he was very influential in past elections and policy making that resulted in 30+ years of tax increases to the residents of our town.  I firmly believe that if Mr. Tripp could push this town so far to the political left that it could be called Socialism, he would do it.

 

Always remember that Supervisor Walters has had control of the Town Council for only one year and our town residents have had their first tax decrease in the last 30+ years. I say thank you Supervisor Walters, keep up the good work!
