The Buffalo News broke a follow up story today about Jack Davis being embarrassed from paying Judy Orsini money for IP assistance. At the end of the story their was a single line that is turning into a major problem for Tony Orsini.
Tony Orsini apparently, more than a year ago, filed for and received a Homestead Exemption for his Florida residence. In order to receive that exemption he had to declare Florida as his home residence. He did this in spite of being a Commissioner for the NYS OTB and a member of the NYS IP Executive Board and the defacto Erie County IP Chairman.
So what does this mean? It means he may have collected money from the state in a fraudulent manner as well as conducted party business in a manner that may not have been legal. No determination on any of the legalities has been made, but State IP Chairman Frank McKay told me he will be looking into these facts and will advise me of any developments from it.
My instincts tell me that Orsini has dug himself into a big hole this time and there isn’t anyone to throw him a lifeline any longer. if Frank McKay and the State IP leadership abandon Tony then he will be fair game for legal action. Stay tuned, I’m told Bob McCarthy at the Buffalo News is breaking a huge story tomorrow in the Sunday Paper all about Orsini and this mess. I hope it holds true!
