Does Volunteer mean Volunteer with BTVFC?

2 10 2008

I have to wonder if the word Volunteer actually means what the dictionary says it does when used in conjunction with the Big Tree Volunteer fire Company? Let me explain.

As I was reading the recent tax return that was sent to me anonymously, one of the pages had pay-outs to various members. These pay-outs aren’t identified as to what they were for, so it makes me wonder if the BTVFC is circumventing rules and possibly laws to give away gifts to some of its officers and members.

As you can see the Secretary, Treasurer and several Chiefs each received cash payments from the fire company. The full membership isn’t listed so who knows who else received money from the fire company? That makes me wonder about other things that don’t necessarily show up here. Things like, who is getting their gas tanks filled and do they pay for it. How much do they take and where is the accounting for that commodity? What about the food, beer, pop and other consumables?

Do the members pay anything or are we just shelling out our tax dollars so these volunteers can have a good time. If that’s actually the case don’t you think it should be an open bar for the fire district tax payers? Anyway here is the pay-out list that was put in the tax return.

they got to him

Well it appeares that you have the eyes and ears of many people in the Hamburg Area. I read the letter in the SUN asking you to stop your attack on firefighters. I have also read your comments that you respect the firefighters and all the work they do. Sounds like political adds that are all over the TV. Put the spin on what is going on to cover up the truth. The Lake View fire comany reduced its tax request because they did not want you to bring up their new fire truck! They control the fire department tax rates in their fire district not the town and I am sure that they will make up the 10 g’s that way. Speak up WNY shows well over 4,000 hits on your thread to abolish BTFC and the out of control spending for fire departments in the Town of Hamburg! People are watching, that thread has more hits than any other on the entire Speak up WNY site. I just hope the people in control of the tax money are also watching, election day is just a month away!

Independent Thinker

Out of curiosity, on what basis does Hamburg First claim credit for the reduction in Lakeview’s proposed budget increase? Are there any stronger reasons than the mere fact that he was present, and spoke at, the last Town Board meeting?

It would appear that this an attempt to gain credibility from an event which occurred independently of his influence. Please fill me in if I’m wrong!
