Thank You Hamburg Police!

For those of you who haven’t already heard, I was arrested today for alleged harassment of my sister in law. The accusation is entirely untrue, but never-the-less the Hamburg PD must execute any and all warrants filed by the Erie County DA’s office.

This whole issue has been an ongoing family matter for well over a year but the long and short of the matter is that certain speech is protected under the first amendment and this was protected speech. I run and operate another website and I am the Chairman of a private organization  that researches paranormal activity in Western New York. On that website I have numerous articles and some evidence of paranormal activity that my group has captured recently. The web site is www.wnyprg.com.

For some reason or another my sister in law has been leaving me very nasty messages on that websites comments board. After 3 nasty comments from her I replied to my brother with a message of my own. Apparently my sister in law didn’t like what I told him and she went downtown and filed harassment charges. The only problem with all this is that communication through a web site is considered protected speech, not to mention that the comment was to my brother and not her.

The Hamburg PD was very nice and helpful. I never felt threatened or harassed at all. I would recommend that they get the heater in the cell block fixed because it was extremely cold and almost put my back into a severe spasm. In fact, if the judge hadn’t showed up when he did I would have had to go to the hospital to get my meds administered because the PD can’t hand out medication even if it is prescribed to you.

I also want to thank Judge Rooth for coming back into work and letting me go ROR until court in january. He didn’t have to come in until Saturday morning and I could have been sitting there in pain for another 12 hours.

I will be pleading “Not Guilty” to any charge in this case and I won’t be intimidated to change my plea. I did nothing wrong and if someone can’t take the replies to their own nasty comments then they should not go to the site or participate in the discussion.

For any and all who read this, I just want to say that this is an ongoing family matter. It has been building for over a year and I will not be discussing it further. I figured that several people have been out spreading rumors and I was proven correct when the Buffalo News called to get the scoop just a few minutes ago. I didn’t initiate any contact with these people, they came at me. I simply responded through my website and they ran to the DA to get charges filed. I’m sure they didn’t tell the DA about their participation instigating a response, but all that will be hashed out in court in January.
