Ice Arena Proposal to go to Referendum!

The Hamburg Town Council announced yesterday that the New Ice Arena proposal will be sent to a town wide referendum. The date will be announced later but it will definitely be within the next 75 days.

Dogs and Cats used as Shark Bait

I couldn’t believe what I was reading and now I’m sure our world has gone nuts. Fishermen off the coast of France are using dogs, puppies and cats as bait to catch sharks. Shark fins are considered a delicacy in many parts of the world and in the Mediterranean they are consumed as a staple.

Hamburg Sun News being Sued for Libel!!

Finally folks! Perhaps the Sun News published in Hamburg, NY will get what they sow. Elizabeth Reszka has decided to move ahead with her lawsuit after the Sun News printed a letter proclaiming that Elizabeth was sending money to candidates in Hamburg in an improper fashion. The letter in question could be construed as Elizabeth committing felony violations of election law.

Tax Breakdown for Hamburg Residents

The Town of Hamburg has put out a new news letter every month and this month had a tax breakdown that I’m sure you would all be interested in. I am always dismayed at how 54% of the taxes we pay are to a school system that doesn’t rank in the top 25 in Erie County. We pay more per child than what the best private schools charge but we get far less for our money. Go figure!

Lake Shore Fire District Residents get Boned!

I couldn’t believe my eyes and ears tonight at the Hamburg Town Council Meeting. It seems that the residents who live in the Lake Shore Fire District will be picking up the tab for $325K+ in benifits for the fire fighters in their district. As well as 22K per year from now on. It appears it will be dished out as about a $54K increase in fire tax payments over the next ten years, and then 22k per year after that.

Hamburg Cops Hero’s Again!

Once again the Hamburg Police Department has gone into action to save a persons life. This is getting kind of old hat for the Department now a days. This time they rescued a man caught in a burning truck. Great job men! All of us in the Township really do appreciate your efforts every day.

Question that crossed my mind?

I was just sitting here on my couch thinking about the recent article I posted about conflicts of interests in the Hamburg Dispatchers office. What I then thought of was something that could be even more outrageous.

Conflict of Interest?

Recently I have had a lot of e-mails about the possibility of certain town employees having conflicts of interests with the town. I really can’t say if it is true so I am asking for your opinion.
