Ice Arena Proposal Hearing Dates Set

19 03 2009

The Hamburg Town Council  has set the dates for the public to be informed on the specifics of the proposed new ice arena. Lots of speculation has been flying around about who is going to pay for this facility and what happens if the project fails before it’s paid off.

The public will get all the answers they need on March 31 in the Immaculata Academy auditorium and April 22 at the Frontier High School auditorium. Both meetings will run from 7 p. m. to 9 p. m. Then on April 28th the citizens of Hamburg will be able to vote on the proposal. The specific locations of the polls for this vote will be revealed very soon.

Like it or hate it, it’s up to you to decide. Try and get that from a Democratically controlled Town Council, LOL!!!

The last Town wide referendum failed.
Why did the referendum on Garbage fail, how many people voted, does anyone have the total votes and how that broke down along party lines?

Thank you,

The garbage referendum failed because it was a horrible idea. It would have raised the price on garbage, especially for seniors, many of whom are on a fixed income and have a hard enough time paying their bills. Kathy Hochul basically told the seniors to shove it and to start thinking about the good of the community.

Apparently to Kathy, the good of the community requires higher prices for garbage service.

I don’t mean to get off track but was still wondering about the bike path down by Hoover Beach. Is it still on track? are they the town going to put it in? I was wondering if anyone has info on it let me know Thanks. It seems some folks down there want it real bad I guess.

No bike path in Hoover. I spoke to Walters and the he confirmed it. The whole concept was lame. Kesner really didn’t do her homework on Hoover. It appears to have been her pet project that was a half hearted attempt to do a capitol project in Hmbg. Lazy.

downsize!

Word at the Rt@5 Tim Hortins morning coffee meeting today is that the Town of Hamburg is going to lead the way with the elimination of two of the Town Board jobs. Why do we need 5 when we can do it with three. There was also talk that Walters is trying to do away with the Town Clerks job as well. That would make sense with Best leaving the board for the no show Highway job. I understand he is one of three full time town elected employees that does not have to punch in and out on the time clock. Can you guess the other two elected officials?

I am asking that our Town Board post all information for the proposed ice rink development on the Town web site as soon as this weekend so we can review and come prepared to ask relevant questions pertaining to the project. I have a feeling that this project will be an asset to our community but I want to insure I fully under stand the scope of the project and it’s impact vs. attending a sales pitch meeting where I will not be fully prepared to formulate much less ask informative questions.

Thank you

The question posed should be not “if” the projedct fails , but “when”
