Are you mad as hell? Are you gonna take it any more? Let me know! Rumors are that the Big Tree Fire Company officials have voted to start the process of building their new fire hall. I’m being told that estimates are for a 3-4 million dollar fire hall that the people of their district will ultimately pay for in tax increases if the Town Council doesn’t nix this before it begins.
I for one am mad as hell and I’m not gonna stand here and take this any longer. I think it’s time to stand up and fight those who think they are entitled to my cash and stop those who think they can just raise my taxes for no good reason. The talk amongst other fire fighters from other companies in the town is that the Big Tree Fire Company is jealous of the Newton Abbott Fire Company because they built a new fire hall a few years ago and now the BTVFC wants to top them.
All I know is that regardless of the reason, none of the reasons are good enough to convince me they need a new facility. For god sakes if they simply converted that enormous banquet hall into garage space then they wouldn’t need any more space. But NOOOOOOO they have to have that so they can make more money that doesn’t even help decrease our cost every year. Not to mention that they are still using our tax dollars to pay lawyers to fight off former members in civil court cases for defamation among other things. So are you mad yet? Tired of it yet?
No not yet? Then lets talk about how we pay for ambulance service and the damn ambulance rarely leaves it’s storage building. Yep, that’s right, Rural Metro is still picking up the bulk of the calls all over town. But hey lets just keep paying these guys to do nothing and then lets build them a new hall so they can all sit back and get drunk in a fancy new facility while laughing at us all.
The real kicker is that if we were to stop using them for fire service by consolidating the town into fewer districts, then these fire fighters will get rich from all the money you and I paid them over the years. Yep, that’s right, they own all the buildings, equipment, and property. The town gets none of it back. OH, I imagine there would be a court battle over it all, but we don’t have a town council with the back bone to take on the fight. So we all get to keep on paying for little or nothing.
The end game is simply this. We have five seats on the town council and four are up for election this year. That’s three Council seats and a Supervisors seat. I think it’s time that we make all the candidates pledge to stop the BTVFC or we challenge all of them in the election. What do you think? Anyone want to run for a Council seat? I will be happy to show you how to do it and what needs to get done. Hell, I’ll even make the petitions up for you and get you an interview for the IP endorsement if you are willing to pledge to fight the BTVFC and any tax increases during your term. Let me know if you’re interested!
I heard Big Tree can’t get out for the majority of their calls and the sign saying “Firefighters Wanted” says they need help big time. Please explain why they need a new bigger hall if they are lacking members and can’t get out for calls?
Enough is enough!!!! Who do these people think they are? I want to know who on the Town Board approved the burning and the building of new buildings and for what? The taxpayer’s of Hamburg better come together and get transparency, and see who is beneifting for some of these outragous actions.
WE started by voting Pat Hoak out; Coggins HAD to resign. Let’s not stop there.
I am a registered Democrat so my indignation is not politically based.
Big Tree gives all companies in Hamburg a bad name. All you do is hear people laugh at them for their dumb decisions.
