Ice Rink Proposal Melts!

28 04 2009

Its over folks, unofficial figures obtained by Hamburg First shows a significant deficit in votes for this project. The votes in favor are approximately 861 and those against number about 1243, with about 100 absentee votes to count. These numbers must be verified by the Erie County Board of Elections before they become official, but it’s now safe to say its over for Walker and his lack of information strategy on this proposal.

I think we should name this kind of strategy as the Delano factor.

Well, all I can say is that Walker did this to himself. If he had been more open, then I’m sure the Recreation Advisory Board would have been much more sympathetic towards this project. Now it died a quick death.

What is still to question is whether or not this is a political anchor around Steven Walters neck in this years upcoming Hamburg Town Supervisors election. I’m sure he will crow very loudly that he insisted on a referendum and that he is all about good government. I’m also sure you will not hear a peep about how he and Walker colluded to keep specific information away from public view for so long.

Anyway, it’s safe to say that the political season just started with this proposition failing and the Demoncrats now have a very big soap box to crow on!

Thank you to everyone who supported the view of the Recreation Advisory Board and sent this message to our elected leaders. We are not pawns of the political machine and it’s time for good government.

Hahaha…….Jeff Walker I believe that Dairy Queen in Hamburg is hiring for the upcoming season. Maybe if you scuttle over there quickly you can get a JOB. Hopefully you won’t be fired as fast as from every other lame job you ever had.

too late

i take it back, we were not too late! less than 900 voters in a town that is over 60,000 people voted for this project. haw many people received text messages from friends and family to get out the yes vote? that didn’t work, it was down to earth people that pay their bills on time and don’t take advantage of other people’s money that voted this projcet down. i say again to you mr walker, put your own ass on the line, build this business with your own money and i will support you all the way. to the hamburg hawks, it is great that all of you give so much of your time to your children, thanks for not spending our tax money.$ as for the rink as it is, tear it down.

I hope the town residents are ready to have their taxes increased because this was voted down.

I guess having a new Ice Rink would have decreased taxes.

Your logic is rinky dink.

Yes this plan would have decreased the burden…this plan was to have the users pay instead of the tax payers.

Now we are going to watch our facility close down because of major problems that will force it to close until 2 million dollars is spent to knock down the old lobby and locker rooms and build all new….And just think we the tax payers just payed off the 1.25 million dollar bond to fix the roof and floor…..and we will watch this facility close…

Congrats to all that voted NO…follow the leader…you simply minded people…

It is clear that your true agenda leaps off the page in your awkwardly worded
last sentence. We didn’t follow the leader, we led.

This community literally can’t afford to be huckstered by some smooth
operators that want the risk shared and the benefits all to themselves.

The crushing cost of government has to be reined in or it is going to implode.

Snake oil is not a commodity in great demand in Hamburg. The hard-working
people who treasure this town united to crush this wrong-headed pipe dream.

What is sad here is out of 60,000 town residents 2,200 voted. How many people had no idea about this project?

Lets get change done in Hamburg but lets do it for free…..

That was the plan for 28 years with a 7 year guarantee….

An 80 year old lady said it perfect on Tuesday when she arrived at Lake View Firehall to vote…Everyone wants change, but how do we get change when those same people vote NO to a proposal that will save tax money.

again…you people that follow Ford and others are SIMPLE MINDED….

When is the rink going to close for repairs…..Monday

The sad fact is that this project was never about “the kids”. It was about a guy who can’t hold a job trying to create one for himself that he can’t get fired from. The voters could see the personal agenda over the buzz words a mile away.

Don’t worr though. McDonalds is always accepting applications.

Annoyed,

His past has nothing to do with this.

And how do you know he’s been fired?

Who are you?

If your Gary Klump..stand up and say your Gary Klump.

Maybe its Phil Christ who is annoyed he was not part of this project.

Have some balls and use your name, because if you don’t your credability goes out the window.

This guy has brought a great project our Town and 2% of the population disagrees, what a shame….This guy will find some place to do it. This is not a new idea, its been around for a long time and it works in all the towns it has been used.

There is rumor of voter fraud. Who got all those octogenarians out to vote. They came in their wheelchairs. They know a stupid idea when they see it through their cataracts.

Roberts,
Easy boy, stand down. I’d be taking too much credit for this broohaa you’ve started.

My time will come to comment. Let the dust settle and as for annoyed, we should all be shocked at all the talkers and pretenders in this town who don’t walk the talk. The turnout was embarassing and a direct reflection of how insipid we are as a town.

I will always stand by what I preach. One of the few in this town that do. Shame on all of us.
Gary
