I Hate Fusion Voting!

17 05 2009

Can I say it any clearer? I HATE FUSION VOTING!!!!!

I firmly believe that each political party should beĀ  dedicated to their own fundamentals, willing to risk losing to hold true to their mission statements and above all else, be willing to endorse people with absolutely no political background.

Now nothing has happened for me to spout off like this. I was simply sitting here reading other web sites and just thinking how all these other parties come crawling to the minor parties for support of their candidates each year. I just don’t understand the necessity of the state needing to use fusion voting.

I know most of you already know that fusion voting is the ability of a political party to endorse members of another party, and then let them run for election on another parties line. Some out there may not have known that, and they may not know that fusion voting is the underlying principal which has destroyed New York State.

Why? ….. Because it prevents a full board of candidates running for election and it ultimately limits the scope of issues discussed during the election cycle. Wouldn’t it be nice if every party were forced to run their own party candidate or leave the line blank? I think so.

Dear Ford

When are you announcing the endorsements of the Hamburg Independence party. I suggest Walters, Collins, Whitmeyer & Bellissimo

Hey Dear Ford

Hey Dear Ford,

Wouldn’t the subject matter of this post point to the exact opposite of your suggestion?

Your suggestion is for the IP to endrose the Republican slate, when the whole point of this post is that the IP (and every other political party in NYS) should run their own candidates and stand for their own platform.

In that context, your suggestion seems a bit silly.

Where in this post does it suggest I want to endorse the Republican Slate? Nothing is farther from the truth. I want to see the IP run a full slate or leave part of the line open.

Leaving the line open seems to be outrageous to some in the party.

The mission statement of the IP says we support term limits. Recently, at a candidate interview, for a town other than Hamburg, a 39 year incumbent asked for our endorsement. When I simply asked why we were entertaining someone who has been in office so long, I was verbally jumped all over. I suggested leaving the line open since we didn’t have another person running against that candidate. You would have thought they think I was completely nuts.

Funny, how the GOP are now asking for your blessing, but never gave you the respect prior to their endorsement need. Ford give the endorsement to either the IP candidates or the Dems. See how fast the Hamburg GOP will get in line next time……

Some of the GOP candidates are asking for our endorsement. They will be interviewed and treated like every other candidate. I do think that they are in an up hill battle with our party because of the ……. “decisions” ……… of their town chairman.

However, strange things happen in politics. I will go back on record and state once again that I will never support Amy Ziegler for our party line.

Speaking of which when are the endorsements going to be made?

You are on the Executive Board. What’s going on?

Candidates are still being interviewed. Hell, the Demon-crats just finished their endorsements last week for god sake. Give these people some time to submit their request for endorsements. Only those candidates who request an endorsement will be eligible for one.

I expect the process to be completed and an announcement to be made a day or two before petitions are circulated. The Wilson-Pakulas will be signed and most held on to until the last possible moment for submission to the BOE.
