The Erie County IP finalized all the endorsements for Erie County and every Town this evening. It has been a lengthy process with a lot of interviews, but it’s finally over. The most notable endorsements were for Byron Brown and Sheriff Tim Howard. Both will retain IP support in this years election.
The next notable race was Erie County Legislature District #12. Lynne Dixon is running against Robert Reynolds and many believed that we would automatically endorse her. After some lengthy and heated discussion, it was determined that the IP Line in District #12 should be left open.
Why? Well that question could be answered in ten different ways depending on who you ask. For me, the decision was based on the fact that I couldn’t find a single year in which Lynne ever voted before. In fact, BOE records show she wasn’t even registered to vote until last year. Then she decides to register as an IP and automatically expects us to bend over backwards for her? Not me. Pay your dues first sweety!
However, our leaving the line open and not endorsing Bob Reynolds is a “de facto silent endorsement” for Lynne since she can run on our line without an endorsement from us.
In Legislature District #1, Dan Kozub was endorsed once again. This wasn’t a popular decision, but everyone understood that only a Demon-crat is going to beat him in that district, and since he is the only Demon-crat running, well….. the rest is academic.
Supervisor Steven Walters received the Town endorsement as well as Tom Best for Highway Superintendent. Gerald Gorman was unanimous for Town Justice. The Hamburg IP decided to run three of our own members for the Council seats. Gary Klumpp, a very well known youth sports coach and community activist was endorsed for the four year term along with Franklin Cirrincione, a local Bath and Kitchen Remodeling Business owner. I, Ford Beckwith was endorsed for the two year term in an attempt to hold our line down and away from the Sorrentino Demon-crats.
I have no illusions of actually winning a general election, but I am hopeful of keeping our line free from Demon-cratic control. For all you people who have tried to discredit me with posting BS financial data, all my bills are paid off. I owe no-one a dime. Chew on that for a while!
It has been reported as of late that Sorrentino has troops out getting IP signatures already. I think this is a big mistake since he doesn’t have an authorization from the County IP or the State IP as of yet. In fact, any signature his petitions have before the date of the authorization will be held invalid. Until a “Wilson-Pakula” is actually signed, for members outside of the IP, and filed at the Erie County Board of Elections, none of the signatures signed before that date are valid.
A full list of county wide endorsements and profiles of the local IP candidates will follow in the upcoming week.
Byron Brown…really? Wow that says all I need to know about the IP.
It’s a shame you wimped out on Kozub, why wouldn’t you just leave that line blank? It’s hypocritical to “endorse” someone you consider a “demon”. I wish you would have shown more guts with Ms. Dixon also. You should have endorsed her if you were not happy with Reynolds. Politics as usual I guess.
I’m only one guy on an endorsement board. They followed my recommendations in Hamburg, so I gave them leeway with the county endorsements. That’s called politics.
Ford a guy was driving a car through Armour last night looking for addresses with this other guy. He said he worked for Kathy Hochul at the County Clerk’s office and he was passing Independence Party petitions. The names were all demon crats. I thought you were endorsing Walters and members of the IP. What gives?
what happened to Polancarcz?
He was endorsed as well. Orsini promised the endorsement to someone else and now he is embarrassed.
Rumor has it Frank Mackay is throwing out all endorsements made by Rosenswie and doing his own. Good luck Ford.
McKay can’t throw out anything. We are a legally constituted committee, so sayith the judge, and we have the right to endorse candidates. The only question is whether or not the State IP can endorse their own here in Erie County.
I don’t give a shit about McKay because all our council candidates are IP members who don’t need an endorsement to run. We will hold our line in Hamburg this year, bet on it.
Even Lenihan wants Sorrentino out, so you can expect the Lenihan Demon-crats, who switched over to the IP, to support us against any challenge mounted by Sorrentino.
Gaughan’s fund raiser a rousing success!
Beckwith for Council….. a dream come true!
What is your platform Ford?
Ford, how can you make recommendations in Hamburg when you weren’t even at the interviews?
Kowalski had 25 people at his DiPaolo’s fundraiser. Now at $20 per person and $30 couple. This puts his fundraiser at a NET LOSS of over a $1,000 after the bills were paid.
Gaughan’s fundraiser is at the Root 5 tomorrow night. Will he make $.
Gaughan made lots of money.
Gaughan fundraiser was a financial and artistic success.
The length and breadth of the support was stunning.
The Who’s Who of the WNY political, industrial, financial and
organized labor communities were joined by legions of
just plain folks to launch the most successful fund raiser
in Hamburg history.
Dennis Gaughan was introduced to thunderous applause
and gave a heartfelt and inspired address on his plans for
a leaner, dynamic and efficient Hamburg. The electricity
in the room was palpable.
It says here that Gaughan is a winner!
Put Gaughan on your lawn and let a winner lead the way!
When is Ip endorsed Steve Walters going to come clean on the
taxes he paid for the use of the SUV?
Heard Ziegler is having a fundraiser for her attorney friends downtown tonight and Wittmeyer is having his first one tonight at Kazs.
You expect Steve Walters to come clean on the use of the SUV?
Hardy har har har har!
The SUV and taxes paid are one of many secrets the Walters are
hiding!
Ford, what is your platform?
Dennis Gaughan was at Hamburg Town Hall this afternoon showing how his suit coat and pants no longer fit him. He said he lost 25 pounds from door to door campaigning.
He needs to lose another 100. Stop joking, he doesnt stand a chance!
You may wnt to check on the festering tax problem Walters has
with the use of the SUV before you get into fortune telling Gary!
This just shows that he hasn’t moved in 25 years. And why would he go to town hall? Who cares? He is a man without a party.
He exalts not himself who diminishes others!!
The funny thing is that, other than the Gaughan sheep on this board, the rest of Hamburg laughs when they hear that Dennis is running. His new sign in front of his building looks like he is running a tanning bed, not a law office. The GOP should thank these Democratic jokesters for these primaries. This is how Jack Quinn III won his first election for State Assembly and he could keep that seat forever now if he wanted to. These I say the only Dem who wins is Gorman.
Tanning beds is a multimillion dollar business. I think you give him too much credit. I don’t think Gaughan makes more than a million. His sign is outstanding.
I’m going to predict Gaughan wins the primary and has an even bigger win in November. Simply because he has always been there for people. Ask some of the people who really know politics. He is very well liked by many people.
The Republican with the best shot is Ellen Ziegler. The other two elected will be Gorman and who everl lines up against Witmeyer. NIce guy but light on qualifications.
Haha, first of all her name is Amy Ziegler not Ellen. and I guess Wittmeyer being a business owner and everyone else being a lawyer makes him somehow light on qualifications to you. We’ve got enough lawyers, lets get some real life leaders.
Town Democratic Candidates (County Leg. Bob Reynolds) were out in full force this past Sat., first at the farmers market in the Village of Hamburg and later at the park. They had a lot of positive things to say about what they plan to do when they take over the Town Board. What really surprised me was that no Republican candidates were there not sure why?
Thats funny, I saw Bellissimo and Wittmeyer at the ArtFest at Memorial park on Sunday and no Dems. I guess they pick their spots.
This has to be one of the best local elections in a long time, who will control the Town????
