It’s over, Lalka and Albert won. Congrats to them but tough luck to the rest of us. I have been thinking of how this could possibly happen and it’s not to hard to understand.
The Frontier School System is the largest single employer in Hamburg. Albert and Lalka had about 1850 votes between them. The other four of us had close to 2250. The problem was simply too many candidates and an unwillingness to work together to unseat the incumbents.
I hope one thing comes from all of this. This should be a clear message to the school board that enough people are pissed off and the board should consider strong reforms. The only reason the incumbents survived is that their were two or three to many challengers. Maybe that was planned, maybe not. Hell, more than 450 people agree with me and want to cut sports! That in itself should wake them up.
However you want to look at these results remember this. The measure of a true leader is accepting his defeats, pick up the peices, learn from his mistakes and carry on to the agenda. True leaders never give up on the cause they believe in the most. I will be back next year for another chance at the school board because I believe we really need true reform there. See you in the trenches this summer. Lots of politics till then to discuss.
