The New York Double Standard

15 04 2008

Thirteen years ago, I left the USN with an Honorable Discharge after serving 10 years and participating in Desert Shield/Desert Storm. After I was out I wasn’t so sure what to do with myself but it wasn’t long before I found myself attending  the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Police Academy five hours a night, six nights a week for 10 months. That’s right folks, 10 long months. After graduation those of us who finished were the first group to ever be required to pass a State Certification Exam. I had no trouble passing the first time out with a 93%. Read the rest of this entry »

Big Tree VFD Ignores Town Ordinances

6 04 2008

Over the last week or so I have gotten a few e-mails from some people letting me know that the Big tree Volunteer Fire Hall is hard at work clearing the trees and brush from their new property on the corner of Big Tree Rd. and Bristol St. in Hamburg. These people are mad for several reasons and the least of which was more green space being torn down. I believe most people in this fire district are dismayed at how a Fire Hall can simply raise your taxes 9.2%, pay three hundred thousand dollars + for new property and plan to build a four million dollar fire hall without involving the public in any way. Time to look into Little League Finances

31 03 2008

Spring is upon us and sure enough kids will emerge from homes with excitement and energy. They have been cooped up for months just waiting for the weather to change. Oh sure they were out in the snow and cold, whacking around hockey balls and building snow forts for snow ball fights, but they all look forward to the little league baseball, football and lacrosse seasons that are about to begin. I’m sure that Carnegie Scranton, Lake Shore and Hamburg Little leagues have already distributed their fliers in the schools and had sign up at the mall. That usually happens in February. Ice Arena put on the fast track!

27 03 2008

I have just received word that the Hamburg Town Council is putting the Jeff Walker proposal on the fast track. The Hamburg Recreation Department Citizens Advisory Board has been asked to attend an emergency meeting set for April 3, 2008 at 5:30pm, where we will be given the full information on the deal. I have been asking for the exact figures from Marty Deneke and Jim Connolly for several months but haven’t been given anything. Read the rest of this entry »

Here We Go Again!

22 03 2008

I have to laugh at all the BS that is continuously spewed by the Frontier School Board and their representatives. If I didn’t laugh at it, I would absolutely go nuts with anger. It is so wrong that these people leave out information that could cause residents to vote down a proposed agenda or tax increase. If you read recent stories in the Hamburg Sun News or the Buffalo News you think that this School Board is actually trying to cut costs and keep tax increases to a minimum, but what is actually happening is completely the opposite. Congratulations Steve and Beth Walters!

17 03 2008

Supervisor Walters and his wife had a baby girl Sunday morning. Their darling girl weighed in at 7lbs- 10oz. I’m told they named her Lydia Josephine Walters. God bless her and the Walters family.

IP members ready to challenge for spots on Frontier School Board!

15 03 2008

I picked up petition packets for 2 candidates who will be challenging for 2 spots on the Frontier School Board this year. Although I will not name these candidates just yet, I am very confident in their ability to lead and both are sick of tax increases and capital improvement projects that suck the life out of our residents. Have you ever paid for a prostitute?

14 03 2008

My bet is very few people ever pay for prostitutes. There are lots of reasons why and I hardly think I need to list any of them. But believe it or not, many of you just payed. The FBI is now looking into whether or not Spitzer used his campaign funds to pay for his illegal trysts. Read the rest of this entry »

The Death of Another Democratic Idea!

10 03 2008

Can you picture the setting? A small tavern, candles lit all around, a small casket with a little strip of paper laying inside. There is a large crowd full of Democrats all in tears, drinks in everyone’s hand and the liquor is flowing graciously. Yes, what I have just described is an Irish Wake being held for the Hamburg Bike Path proposed by the Hamburg Democratic Party. Read the rest of this entry »

Will the Hamburg Town Council bite at Jeff Walker’s proposal?

3 03 2008

Talks are continuing and meetings are happening behind closed doors to privately lease/manage the Nike Base Hamburg Ice Arena. If the arena is left alone to continue to operate as it is, this facility will continue to lose between $300k and $500k every year. It’s inevitable that a single sheet of ice can’t make any money. This facility is way to small to do much with outside of ice hockey so it will always lose the town money. Read the rest of this entry »
